Scholarship Programs
These awards are made to undergraduate physics students on the basis of scholarship, SPS participation, and additional criteria as outlined in the following descriptions.
The deadline to apply for SPS scholarships is March 15. Applications are accepted through the online application system
Be sure to give yourself enough time to complete the application process, which includes requesting two letters of recommendation that must be uploaded by the deadline, and an official copy of your transcripts that must be postmarked by the deadline. You must know what your SPS Chapter number is to apply.
Scholarship Opportunities
TEAM-UP Together Scholarship Program
The TEAM-UP Together Scholarship program was created to alleviate some of the financial burden for undergraduate physics and astronomy students facing the starkest barriers and unequal access to educational opportunities. TEAM-UP Together Scholarship winners receive up to $10,000 per academic year and a Society of Physics Students membership.
The awards and scholarship programs of SPS are made possible, in large part, through the generous contributions of Sigma Pi Sigma members and friends. In this way, the physics alumni, and especially Sigma Pi Sigma members, contribute to the generations of students who follow them.
SPS derives most of its support from the American Institute of Physics (AIP). SPS dues are also an important contributor. These regular, budgeted sources of revenue make possible the SPS publications and additional programs that are available to SPS members.
