Zone and Chapter: Hope College, Zone 7
My name is Joey Fogt, I am a rising senior at Hope College majoring in both in physics and engineering (electrical engineering concentration) with a minor in German. I recently took part in reestablishing our SPS chapter on campus and currently serve as Treasurer. I also help lead Hope College’s Formula SAE team as a Co-Captain and chassis design lead. My research under Dr. Kyuil Cho has been focused on studying the effects of proton irradiation on high-temperature superconductors, mostly cuprates such as YBCO-1237.
In the next year I hope to continue our SPS chapter’s growth and build stronger bonds between area chapters and community schools, as well as build and attend FSAE Michigan 2026. After graduation, I plan to pursue a PhD in applied physics.
