Reengage with Sigma Pi Sigma

Sigma Pi Sigma recently launched a series of new programs focused on actively reengaging alumni like you! Many members want to connect with the community and give back to the next generation, but they don’t have the time to plan events or search for programs. To help with this, Sigma Pi Sigma is streamlining outreach opportunities, helping you get involved at a level that meets your availability
If you’d like to contribute expertise and advice without leaving the comfort of your living room, consider being featured on our upcoming podcast aimed at undergraduates looking for guidance on their career paths. As a guest, we’ll invite you to share your professional journey and personal experience with getting a degree in physics or astronomy. If you have a fun or inspiring career history, let us know as soon as possible!
Engage with the podcast in other ways, by listening to episodes, learning about the paths your peers took, sharing the podcast with others, and chatting in the comments. If you’d like to get involved in person and go beyond a single conversation, keep an eye out. Sigma Pi Sigma is currently training a team of alumni to connect members in local areas. Soon, you’ll be invited to reunions or happy hours organized by peers in your city! SPS chapters often invite alumni to give talks or attend induction ceremonies and other events. There is now a dedicated fund SPS chapters can use to support these alumni interactions! If you want to revisit your old college haunts, let us know and reach out to that chapter. If the chapter is granted funding, your name will be first on the list of volunteers.
To make volunteering even easier, we’ve launched a new Sigma Pi Sigma email newsletter called “Alumni Journeys in Physics & Astronomy.” These monthly emails will be the best place to sign up for events and stay in the know. The emails will periodically include a history section, induction calendar, information about new programs, alumni updates, and featured stories. Ultimately, our goal is to help you continue your lifelong journey and participation in the physics and astronomy community in whatever way you’d like.
If we don’t have your primary email address, you’ll be missing out on these exciting opportunities and engaging stories. By keeping your contact information with us up to date, you’ll deepen your connection to this society, learn the best times to visit your local chapter (or offer to Zoom in), and be inspired by stories of alumni like you making an impact on the current generation of students. Please email sps-programs@aip.org to ensure that you receive the newsletter. You’re a lifetime member of Sigma Pi Sigma, so take advantage of your lifelong benefits!
