Science Outreach Catalyst Kits: Science Outreach Catalyst Kit (S.O.C.K.)
The 2023-2024 SOCK focuses on Eclipses in preparation for the solar eclipses happening soon! There is an annular eclipse on October 14th, 2023 and a total eclipse on April 8th, 2024. This kit is designed to provide SPS groups with a full table set up at a Physics Outreach Event for the general public and kids. There are several fun astronomy demonstrations in the kit designed for all ages along with other engagement tools! The demos included have write ups and videos that explain the physics behind the demo. See below for more information on what is included in this year’s SOCK!
Demos Included:
Soda Straw Rocket: Build a rocket and learn about the forces that govern our world!
Planet Deformation: Learn how the rotation of Earth creates a bulge at the equator.
Explaining Eclipses: Learn about how scientists study Eclipses and use eclipses to study exoplanets and multiple star systems!
