The William Jewell College SPS chapter hosted the annual Zone 12 Meeting February 22-‐23, 2019 on our campus in Liberty, MO. Thirty-‐four students and faculty from seven zone colleges and universities participated during the weekend. Kayla Stephens, SPS Programs Manager from the National Office, also attended both days.

Activities began late Friday afternoon with laboratory tours and physics demonstrations. Afterwards, we took a group picture and participated in several fun activities, including Physics Charades and solving Fermi Problems. Next, we enjoyed a chicken dinner from Chick Filet, followed by an astronomy talk by Dr. Maggie Sherer, Chair of the WJC Physics Department. The evening concluded with cosmic bowling at a local bowling alley, Retro Bowl.

On Saturday morning we gathered for a bagel breakfast. After breakfast, six students presented their research work on a variety of topics ranging from quantum dots to fluid flow. To finish the session, Kayla Stephens gave an informative presentation on PhysCon 2019. The meeting concluded with lunch and opportunities for socializing and networking.
