Ty W Stromberg awarded 2025 SPS Outstanding Service Award

About the Recipient

Ty single-handedly revitalized the USAFA Physics and Astronomy Club, acting as the driving force behind the USAFA SPS chapter’s activities. As Cadet in Charge, he inspired numerous cadets and orchestrated eight significant events, including a public STEM day for the October 2023 partial solar eclipse that drew over 800 attendees. Ty passionately led STEM outreach events at schools and the Academy, inspiring the next generation. Most notably, Ty spearheaded the 2024 total solar eclipse expedition, a monumental effort leading 25 members in producing invaluable NASA data sets to help reduce the $10 billion annual economic impact of solar storms. The club received significant media coverage that has elevated USAFA’s reputation. His efforts significantly contributed to the team being named the USAFA Research Team of the Year for 2025.
