About the Recipient

Zone and Chapter: University of Dayton

I am a rising senior studying mechanical engineering at the University of Dayton. After considering adding a physics major during my first year, I decided to stick with mechanical engineering and expand my passion for physics through SPS. Our chapter focuses on outreach for the greater Dayton community. By helping to coordinate and participation in events, I have solidified my desire to contribute to STEM education for the younger generation, specifically toward females. I am currently an intern at Lockheed Martin where I spend my time making process improvements through the implementation of new technologies such as augmented reality. After I finish my senior year at Dayton, I plan to attend graduate school for full time research in bioastronautics, building off of my undergraduate research. This research involves computer modelling for a dynamic heat radiator on small satellites. I plan to take this research experience and pivot to the more human-focused aspect of space flight. By remaining in the space field and combining practical research with fast-paced industry, I can make a huge impact on the future of technology, space research, and society as a whole.
