About the Recipient

Zone and Chapter: Utah Valley University, Zone 15

I’m a junior at Utah Valley University studying Physics Education. I’ve spent my undergraduate years tutoring physics and math for high school and undergraduate students, and I’m passionate about helping all students see that they can be scientists! Last summer, I had the opportunity to complete an REU (Research Experience for Undergraduates) at the University of Utah, where I studied group dynamics and equipment access in introductory physics labs. Through this experience, I became even more passionate about creating physics classrooms where every student has the opportunity to connect with and understand the material. I will be transferring to the University of Utah in the Fall to complete their bachelor’s in physics/master’s in education dual degree program. After graduation, I plan to pursue a career teaching high school physics in communities with limited access to STEM resources. When I’m not in a physics classroom, I love to spend my time painting, listening to folk/indie/pop music, going on drives with friends, and putting together charcuterie boards!
