About the Recipient

Zone and Chapter: Green River College, Zone 17

I’m a current sophomore at Green River College who will be transferring to a 4 year university this fall for Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering. This spring I’ll be walking the stage to receive my Associates of Transfer in Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering. A few long-term personal goals of mine is to conduct aerospace centered research, and work as a spacecraft systems engineer. I’m passionate about contributing to sustainable human space-exploration. This passion for engineering actually stemmed from my deep interest in astrophysics; how does the universe work, and why do certain processes take place? I’m lucky enough to have visited Cape canaveral at a young age, and by the time my first visit to NASA Kennedy Space Center was over, I knew that my curiosity could become applicable to something bigger. On the first day of class in fall of 2024, my professor mentioned the lack of connection between physics students in the past year. Immediately I was inspired to create a community of ambitious students in my field, so naturally I worked to bring Green Rivers SPS Chapter back to life. Stepping up as Vice-President and leading a passionate group of STEM students exposed me to both essential hard and soft skills that I will use for the rest of my life. From hosting plasma cannon workshops, to guiding physics exploration for students k-12, and networking with industry professionals, being a leader in SPS has exposed me to meaningful experiences. This summer, I plan to begin challenging self-guided projects that will allow me to expand on both my Matlab and Solidworks skills!
