Project Name: Increasing and Supporting Sigma Pi Sigma Honors Inductions

Project Description:

In Spring 2021, we anticipate a higher number of Wheaton College students eligible for induction into Sigma Pi Sigma than is usual. We are applying for $500 to cover the cost of student induction and of honor cords to be worn at graduation. This funding enables students to join Sigma Pi Sigma who otherwise might be unable or choose not to join due to financial reasons, thus meeting the award goal of increasing the number of new inductees. This chapter project additionally meets our department’s goals of funding these inductions for students so that membership in and induction into Sigma Pi Sigma are more socioeconomically equitable opportunities. Finally, b y funding the honors cords for graduation, we raise the visibility of the Sigma Pi Sigma honor society and to the College as a whole.
