Project Description: Beyond inviting 584 local students to join them at outreach activities on campus, the University of Denver SPS Chapter participated in multiple offsite outreach demonstrations. Showcasing their top outreach demos at a local air and space museum and amusement park, SPS members used leaf blowers, Van de Graaf generators, beds of nails, and liquid nitrogen, and more to engage attendees. Denver’s SPS chapter also teamed up with a science outreach organization before an Avalanche hockey game for “Get Your Nerd On Day,” where participants are invited onto the ice to experience the conservation of momentum (and angular momentum) on a low friction surface.
