Lamar University awarded 2016 SPS Chapter Research Award

Zone and Chapter: Lamar University

Project

Project Name: Finding the shape of glowing objects from polarimetric measurements.

Project Leaders: Keeley Townley-Smith, Mark Worth, Suzanne Wheeler

Chapter Advisors: Crisitan Bahrim

Project Description: The SPS chapter of Lamar University proposes a robust in-lab method for spatially resolving the shape of any glowing object from the study of light emitted, and test it with a new optical system (including lenses, polarizers, sensors, and step motors). The topic was inspired from polarimetric measurements of supernovae.
