Project Description: The first-year students of the SPS chapter at the Georgia Institute of Technology are constructing an electromagnetic kinetic-projectile launcher (colloquially and henceforth known as a “coilgun”) in an effort to demonstrate the fundamentals of electromagnetism and kinematics to students in classrooms and through outreach programs in an engaging and interactive way.
