Ruth Willet awarded 2025 Sigma Pi Sigma Leadership Scholarship

Ruth Willet is a 3rd year graduate student and a 1st year PhD student in Acoustics at Penn State University. She earned her M.S. in Acoustics in 2024 from Penn State after earning her B.S in Engineering Physics and Mechanical Engineering from Kettering University in 2021. Her master’s research investigated Micro-electromechanical Systems (MEMS) Sensor Characterization for Diesel Engine Health Monitoring, and her PhD research is focused on applications of Acoustic prognostic health management (PHM) and machine learning to Navy vehicles. Currently, Ruth is the Vice President of the Acoustical Society of America (ASA) Penn State Student Chapter and the President of the Amateur Radio Club at Penn State. Additionally, she is a licensed amateur radio operator (KM4LAO) and is Assistant Director for the international Youth on the Air (YOTA) organization. Ruth is committed to pursuing continued learning and mentorship of younger students in all aspects of life. Once she has finished graduate school, she plans on an Acoustics industry career in consulting firms or government work.
