To kick off the 2023–24 academic year and spark excitement about physics among the student body, the Brigham Young University SPS chapter hosted an on-campus movie night featuring Oppenheimer. The film drew an unprecedented crowd, filling all available seats—nearly two hundred students attended!

After the movie screening, SPS advisor and particle physicist Professor Chris Verhaaren delivered a presentation on the physics of the atomic bomb and its impact. Students then had the opportunity to ask questions, deepening their understanding of the movie and the scientific concepts addressed.
