About
Walker Law is entering his junior year at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, majoring in physics and mathematics. He has been an active member of his SPS chapter as Vice President for the past two years. He has served as Vice President of his SPS chapter for the past two years and values the welcoming, supportive environment SPS chapters foster---especially as a student far from his home in the Pacific Northwest. Walker has pursued several physics research opportunities at Coe College, including applying sodium borate glass disks to microplasma generation in collaboration with Seton Hall University and developing novel plastic scintillators for FLASH radiotherapy cancer treatment. He also conducted detector calibration research during an REU at the Catholic University of America in collaboration with the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility. Outside of academics, he enjoys photography, reading, skateboarding, and trying new things. As the Associate Zone Councilor for Zone 11, he seeks to ensure a bright and secure future for physics, astronomy, and science by increasing trust in scientists nationwide through promoting supportive academic environments and SPS chapters and events.
