About
Thor Stensrud is a retired U.S. Air Force analyst and graduate of the United States Air Force Weapons School. Throughout his career, he has been recognized as an exceptional instructor, teaching both bachelor’s and master’s-level courses, and more recently serving as an advanced course developer and instructor focused on the tactical application of analytical and technical disciplines. He currently consults for the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Space Force, and NATO partners on curriculum development and implementation of multidisciplinary analytical and technical training programs.
With a background in scientific training and engineering, Thor has recently pursued further formal education in physics. As a student, he conducts research under Dr. Larry Isenhower and contributes to several projects supporting detector development for ePIC. He aspires to develop advanced expertise in physics and nuclear engineering, with the goal of transitioning into a university-level educator role.
As Associate Zone Councilor, Thor is committed to expanding community engagement across all levels of science education. He aims to strengthen connections between zone chapters, encourage innovative approaches to recruiting the next generation of physicists, and make the field of physics more accessible and inspiring to those who might not otherwise encounter it.
