The future of the physical sciences is bright because of people like you. We want to hear and celebrate your story.
Share Your Story

Who do you want to hear from?

Anyone in the SPS community! We encourage submissions from undergraduate students, faculty, alumni, and supporters. We aim to showcase the diversity of experiences within the SPS community. By publishing these stories, we share ideas, celebrate achievements, inspire one another, and provide a platform for addressing challenges and topics relevant to our community.

Why do you want to highlight MY story?

SPS is the Society of Physics STUDENTS and is all about the student experience. Your story helps build the vibrant community that makes SPS unique. By sharing your journey, you can inspire others—encouraging students to join their local chapters, stay engaged in their studies, and feel connected to a wider community.

What types of stories can I submit?

We welcome a variety of stories from our community. Examples include, but are not limited to:

  • Chapter outreach and community events
  • Chapter or individual research projects or hands-on activities
  • Professional development opportunities
  • Physics and Astronomy events or meetings
  • Advice columns
  • Pathways and career journeys
  • Awards and accomplishments
  • Fun or interesting stories related to the SPS community

Where will my story be published? Who is the audience?

Your story could be featured in The SPS Observer or Radiations magazine. In particular, the annual winter issue of the SPS Observer features a variety of stories submitted by students and chapters. Some stories may also be published on the SPS website.

Our audience includes students, faculty, alumni, and supporters of SPS and Sigma Pi Sigma.

What if I don’t know what to write?

Consider becoming an SPS student reporter! You’ll attend professional physics or astronomy conferences and share your experience through a written report. Your report can include plenary sessions, workshops, networking events, tours, and research presentations (oral or poster).
