Kathryn Mendez
About
During my junior year in my undergraduate career, I was the Vice President of my Sigma Pi Sigma chapter at Florida International University (FIU). Serving on the executive board helped me see where there were areas for improvement in order to maximize the number of students that can be reached and the level of impact we have on them, so I became the President of my Sigma Pi Sigma chapter at FIU during my senior year and started revitalizing the Pion Mentorship program. I conducted physics education research on the Pion Mentorship program and extended it to have professional development, peer, and faculty mentorship among the other initiatives that I continued as president of my chapter. I am currently a graduate student at George Mason University continuing my physics education research on the Pion Mentorship program.
