Jonathon Schock

Jonathon is a Physics major and Mathematics minor at South Dakota Mines (Class of 2027) serving as the Zone 11 Associate Zone Councilor for the 2026–2027 academic year. A proven leader on campus, he serves as the incoming President (former Treasurer(24) and Secretary(25) ) for his local SPS Chapter, the CFO of the SDSMT Student Association Senate, and as a student voice on his institution’s APS-funded Departmental Action Committee.

Jonathon’s interdisciplinary background features his role as the lead sensor physics researcher on a biomedical MRI pre-screening device, building upon his experience as a fellow in the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) program. Throughout his term on the National Council, Jonathon is dedicated to bridging regional gaps, expanding outreach, and championing diverse professional pathways for undergraduate scientists.
