About
John-Ryan Lawrence is a first-generation college student currently serving as the SPS Zone 13 Associate Zone Councilor, Vice-President of his home SPS chapter, and the Engineering Student Body President at Texas A&M University- Kingsville. His academic and professional experience spans multiple disciplines, including various branches of engineering, chemistry, physics, criminal investigations, and aviation operations.
Mr. Lawrence conducts research under Dr. Jingbo Liu in the Department of Chemistry, contributing to projects in forensic, environmental, and physical chemistry. He also volunteers with the Texas A&M University–Kingsville Police Department as a certified HAZMAT instructor, where he provides science-informed safety training.
Throughout his collegiate career, Mr. Lawrence has held over two dozen leadership roles, including President of the American Nuclear Society Student Section, President of the American Chemical Society Student Chapter, President of the TAMUK Criminal Justice Organization, and as a Student Ambassador for the American Physical Society. Across his many roles in student government, professional societies, and community organizations, he has accumulated over 5,000 hours of volunteer service, supporting both his local community and the broader scientific ecosystem.
He aspires to a career in federal law enforcement, with a focus on countering the trafficking and proliferation of narcotics and illicit nuclear materials. As a member of the SPS National Council, Mr. Lawrence is committed to expanding access to research, service opportunities, and interdisciplinary engagement for students across SPS Zone 13 and beyond.
